Belgian Film Sound Engineer Philippe Vandendriessche has invested in a SoundField ST350 portable microphone for use on location. A well-known figure in the Francophone film industry for over 25 years, Vandendriessche was nominated in 2008 for a Cesar film award (the French equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Sound in French film Seraphine, on which he acted as Chief Sound Engineer. OUTSIDE BROADCAST GOES HD IN BRAZIL WITH SOUNDFIELD:
Globo TV, the longest-established TV network in Brazil, has become the first broadcaster in South America to invest in SoundField's digital surround microphone systems for high-definition broadcasting. The SoundField DSF-2/DSF-3 system has been installed in Globo's new high-definition outside broadcast unit (the largest HD OB vehicle in the Southern Hemisphere, according to Globo), which entered service in mid-January 2010. GERMAN SPORT GETS 5.1 MAKEOVER WITH SOUNDFIELD'S UPM-1:

A SoundField SPS200 Software Controlled Microphone, supplied by German SoundField distributor SEA, has been used to capture audio for a unique sound installation at a Zurich cultural museum. NONAM, Switzerland's North American Native Museum. The new audio installation evokes the culture of the north-west coast of the continent, playing quadrophonic sounds and audio textures captured on the West Coast of British Columbia on a permanent loop inside an acoustically treated chamber. UK-based satellite broadcaster Sky made broadcasting history over the summer, transmitting completely live for the first time ever a series of weekly television plays in high definition, with a 5.1 surround soundtrack.  Helping to create the 5.1 ambience during transmission of the Sky Arts channel series from Sky Studio 6 in Isleworth, London, was one of the broadcaster's eight recently acquired SoundField UPM-1 stereo-to-5.1 upmix processors. Specifically, the UPM-1 was used to process stereo spot effects, atmospheres, and pre-recorded music from the Sky audio libraries so that this content was also transmitted in full 5.1. Read more...
